A hexagon connecting nut, also known as a hex coupling nut or extension nut, is a long internally threaded fastener with a hexagonal exterior designed to join two male-threaded components such as threaded rods or bolts. Typically longer than standard nuts it allows for easy tightening with and is commonly used in applications that require extending the length of threaded rods.
